We cannot stress the importance of highlighting a student’s positive behavior in front of the class and parents. After all, positive reinforcement is the backbone of instilling good habits and behaviors in children. But what about negative behaviors? Often, teachers have a positive classroom behavior list to refer to and access to behavior tracking apps wherein they track every student’s behavior.

Usually, teachers try to handle a student’s negative behavior at their level without making it the talk of the town so that the student doesn’t feel pointed at. However, there are some instances when it becomes necessary for teachers to share their concerns with parents so even they can contribute to bringing in a positive shift in their child’s behavior.

Discussing negative student behavior with parents can be challenging. One way to convey your message to parents and students is via report cards. These written assessments, which talk about a student’s academic progress and conduct, are an excellent means of sharing feedback. When you’re giving your feedback, especially about a negative behavior you have observed in a particular student, you must be careful with your word choices so you don’t sound too harsh but can send your message across respectfully.

If you have been having a tough time on how to write negative behavior comments in your student’s report card, take some time to go through this write-up as we have shared some common negative behaviors exhibited by students and ideas on how you can write an effective comment to share with concerned parents.

1. Disrupting class by talking out of turn or interrupting others.

———– is doing great when it comes to completing tasks and assignments on time. One area I would like him/her to improve is engaging in respectful communication by actively listening to others and waiting patiently for their turn to speak to help create a more inclusive learning environment for everyone.

2. Engaging in disrespectful or rude behavior towards teachers or peers.

———– needs to work toward building positive and supportive relationships with peers and teachers through kind and respectful interactions so that everyone in the class feels valued and appreciated.

3. Showing a lack of focus or attention during lessons or activities.

4. Failing to complete assignments on time.

———– has always been helpful and respectful toward her peers. At present, she needs to proactively take steps to manage her time effectively so she can turn in her assignments on time. By taking a timely and organized approach, she will find herself on the path to building a successful life.

5. Being unprepared for class and not bringing the required materials.

———– often comes to the class unprepared, forgetting to bring the necessary materials required for the lesson. As ———– is good at working on his weaknesses, I believe he will learn to give importance to class preparation so he can be well-prepared for learning and expanding his knowledge and skills.

6. Displaying a negative attitude towards learning or expressing disinterest in the subject matter.

———– is a good-at-heart student whose friends appreciate her for her kindness. However, she also needs to build a positive attitude and interest in learning. By focusing more on the subject matter taught in class, she can make her learning experience more enjoyable.

One aspect she can strive to improve this academic year is following classroom rules and instructions diligently. By respecting the guidelines set in place, she can support positive learning experiences for everyone.

10. Being excessively talkative or disruptive during independent or group work.

———– is an ambitious student with an active mind. She can do much better if she works on diverting her energies to classroom tasks and not being disruptive and talkative during lessons.

11. Being uncooperative or resistant to following directions from teachers.

Not being receptive to the guidance offered by teachers is not a good choice. You need to understand that these instructions are designed to support your growth and development. By cultivating a willingness to work collaboratively with your teachers, you can find your way to meaningful achievements which you are capable of.

12. Showing no effort or motivation in completing tasks or participating in class activities.

You have always been a good student. But lately, I have noticed that you lack the motivation to participate in class discussions and complete given tasks. I am here to have an open discussion and help you out!

13. Engaging in cheating or dishonest behaviors during assessments.

15. Not taking care of personal belongings or class materials.

19. Engaging in excessive or disruptive use of electronic devices during class time.

While the use of technology is vital in today’s age, it would be better if _______ practices mindful use of electronic devices and avoids it entirely during instruction time. By making fair choices on the usage of electronics, ________ can participate more in class activities and enrich his educational experience.

21. Disrupting class by talking out of turn or interrupting others.

I love _______‘s eagerness to contribute to class discussions. However, many times he/she fails to realize he/she is interrupting others while talking. This often disturbs the flow of thoughts of other students. I hope he/she can work on this so every student gets a fair opportunity to share their views with everyone.

I have noticed _______ speaking out of turn quite a few times lately. Please understand that we encourage respectful communication in the classroom, and speaking out of turn is not part of it. As _____ is such a quick learner, I am sure he/she will soon learn to wait for his/her turn before sharing his/her thoughts in class.

22. Engaging in disrespectful or rude behavior towards teachers or peers.

This is to bring to your attention that _______ often exhibits rude behavior towards his/her fellow mates. So, we would like him/her to correct this behavior so none of the students are hurt and he/she is able to build an amicable relationship with everyone in class.

Though _______ is good at studying, I would like her to work on how she interacts with others. There have been instances when she was found disrespecting her teachers and not listening to them.
27. Engaging in excessive socializing, even during class hours.

While _______ has great social skills, she tends to engage in too much socializing during instruction time, which can be disruptive for the entire class. I have set clear boundaries and informed her of the same, so she knows when it’s appropriate to socialize and when it’s not.

_______ can be a little chatty during group activities. This distracts everyone in the group, which often leads to their group completing the task way past the designated time. Concentrating on the task and discussing only task-related topics can solve this issue for ______ and everyone.

I would like to inform you that even repeated reminders have failed to stop ______ from talking excessively during lessons. I suggest we meet to discuss this issue and find a solution to help _______ overcome this habit.

31. Being uncooperative or resistant to following directions from teachers.

As our school does not appreciate such behaviors, we would like her/him to bring about a positive change in herself/himself so she/he never gets involved in such practices in the future.

There have been instances where _______ has resorted to cheating during tests. By discussing the importance of honesty and integrity, I believe he can learn to approach academics with a greater sense of responsibility.

34. Using inappropriate language at school.

_______’s use of inappropriate language often hurts the feelings of her friends and peers. Reminding her about the importance of using respectful language can help her build stronger relationships with everyone.

35. Not taking care of personal belongings or class materials.

Points to remember when framing negative behavior comments

1. Be clear and concise

It is important to state your concerns clearly and effectively. This way, the student and parents know what behavior you are exactly talking about and how you want them to address it.

2. Give constructive feedback

When writing a comment, providing constructive and meaningful feedback is always better. This way, you will encourage students to reflect on their behavior and find ways to improve it.

3. Choose appropriate words

Your word choice will determine how well your comment is accepted by the parents or guardians of the child. Using harsh language can offend them, which is not what you are aiming at. So instead of saying, “Your child is rude,” you could say, “Your child needs to be kinder and more compassionate.”

4. Highlight the positives as well

It helps to share a positive trait you have observed in the child before talking about the negative one. By doing so, you send across a message that you also see the good in the child and are interested in helping them improve.

5. Share the benefit of giving up negative behavior

Highlighting negative behavior is crucial. But it is also important to tell students what benefit they will achieve by giving up the bad behavior. Your input can encourage them to change their conduct and become a better version of themselves.

In Conclusion

Writing report card comments is a time-consuming task. When you have several students in your class, and your job involves writing specific comments, for example, report card comments for special needs students, comments for end-of-the-year report cards, or on negative behavior, it can get really challenging. Teachers often face this challenge because every word they write must be valid, should meet its purpose, and be able to convey the message correctly.

If you have been finding it hard to put your concerns into appropriate words, feel free to incorporate the above comment ideas in your student report cards so you can do your part in bringing a mindset shift in students so they are more inclined to display positive behaviors and stay away from negative actions.

Are you looking for a simple and viable tool to track the behavior of your preschool students or your preschool-going child? If yes, then let us introduce you to one of the most commonly used tools to monitor student behavior, which is the well-known “behavior chart”. Considering the utility and effectiveness of behavior charts in managing classroom behavior, we have come up with a collection just for you!

Our template is free for teachers and parents to use without spending a single penny! So, don’t hesitate to download and print as many copies of these charts as you would like and begin your journey toward creating a positive classroom environment where little kids are encouraged to learn and display positive behaviors in every sphere of life.

What is a behavior chart, and what is it useful for?

A behavior chart is a great tool that comes in handy when you want children to pick up good behaviors and ditch the problematic ones. It is a wonderful means for positive reinforcement as you pay more attention to a child’s positive behaviors and reward them for the same.

Using a behavior chart, you can make a note of how a child reacts in different scenarios and whether they are adopting behaviors that are expected of them. These notes can serve as a record you can use while creating student assessments which you can later send to parents to share their child’s overall performance. Moreover, behavior charts can help you identify behavioral patterns. They may even let you notice behavioral issues which may require special intervention.

Are behavior charts helpful for preschool kids?

Yes, they are! Preschoolers are at the age when they love to exert independence and do things their way. Try to stop them, and you will see them sulk and whine, so you give in and let them do things their way. Behavior charts come to your rescue, especially when you’re handling a bunch of preschoolers in your classroom. These charts act as a visual reminder where kids can see how well they behave at school. Using inexpensive rewards like stars or stickers, you can encourage kids to behave in a way suitable for a classroom environment.

Seeing how they are doing compared to their peers and where they stand when it comes to rewards received can motivate kids to behave well and avoid behaviors that can lead them to unwanted consequences.

Here are the benefits of using a behavior chart:

Allows you to set clear expectations.

Reinforces good behavior.

Serves as a visual reminder for kids.

Fosters orderliness in the classroom and ensures discipline.

Gives students immediate feedback on their behavior.

Motivates kids to demonstrate positive behaviors with the help of rewards and recognition.

What’s included in our preschool behavior chart template

Our preschool behavior chart bundle consists of three different types of charts that parents and teachers can use. Let’s see what they are and how you can use them.

1. The Blue Chart

This chart is a good choice for those who want to monitor kids’ behavior at home and school without the hassle of maintaining two separate charts. The template consists of two different sections for home and school where you can record a child’s behaviors. Being a weekly template, you can see how a child’s behavior has been throughout the week. The template has enough space for you to keep a check on up to five behaviors at home and five at school.

2. The Pink Chart

Here is yet another weekly chart for behavior management. However, it has a different format than the blue chart. You can allot one sheet for every child and write their specific behavior goals for the week or month. Then there is space for writing the behaviors you want the child to work on.

You can either mark a tick on specific days when the child displays the behavior or ask them to use a crayon to mark their behavior on the chart. This will make them realize that they are accountable for their own actions and behaviors. The chart even gives you space to make notes at the end of the week and assign star rewards to the child based on their overall behavior in that particular week.

3. The ABC Behavior Chart

The last item in our preschool behavior chart bundle is the ABC behavior chart. ABC stands for Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence. This type of chart is beneficial when you want to collect information about the root cause of certain behaviors. When you know what circumstances lead to a particular behavior, you are better equipped to handle and divert these behaviors in a positive direction.

The ABC chart has three sections where you can note what happened immediately before the behavior, the behavior itself, and what action or consequence followed immediately after it. You can also mention the date and time of the behavior so you can refer to it later and use the information if required.

Unlike the blue and pink charts, which are reward oriented, the ABC chart is more about knowing why a child is presenting a particular behavior. The information you gather through this chart can be used for functional behavior assessment of a child with special needs or learning difficulties.

How can you use our preschool behavior chart effectively?

The first and foremost thing you must do when you start using a behavior chart for your preschool students is to introduce the chart to everyone. Take time to explain to the kids what a behavior chart is and why you use it in the classroom. Tell them how their behaviors will reflect on the chart on a daily basis. Make sure they know that positive behaviors will earn them rewards while negative behaviors may invite consequences.

Once children are clear about the chart and your expectations from them, you can find an empty wall in your classroom and paste individual behavior charts for display. When a child behaves appropriately, praise them and give them a sticker to put on the chart. As kids understand that positive behaviors can get them more stickers and appreciation, they will be more likely to repeat them.

Things to include in a preschooler’s behavior chart

Before you begin using a behavior chart for your students, write their names and the name of the month for which you are making a record. Next, you can make a list of behaviors you want the child to work on. Remember, the goals must be clear and easy to understand for preschoolers. You can read our positive classroom behavior list to understand what you can include.

If there are specific adaptive skills your students are working on, you can add them to the chart as well. Our preschool adaptive skills checklist can give you ideas on which adaptive skills preschoolers can work on. Once the chart is ready with all the details, you and your students can begin using it. And don’t forget to stock up on stickers and simple rewards to keep kids motivated, along with lots of positive reinforcement.

Even parents can use preschool behavior chart templates and effective rewards to promote good behavior at home. If pen and paper is not your style, you may like to use one of those behavior-tracking apps available online for managing behavior and measuring progress.

In conclusion

A preschool behavior chart is an effective means to encourage positive conduct. It gives kids a clear idea of what’s acceptable and what’s not. However, when implementing a behavior chart, it’s crucial to remember that each child is unique, and their needs and abilities should be taken into account. While a behavior chart can be beneficial, it should not be the only method of behavior management. You can combine it with other strategies like positive reinforcement, verbal praise, and modeling appropriate behavior.

When used in conjunction with other strategies, a behavior chart can help create a supportive and nurturing environment where preschoolers can thrive and work toward becoming confident, responsible, and well-rounded individuals in the future.

Welcome to the whimsical and wondrous world of positive classroom behaviors! It may not be a place where unicorns roam freely or rainbows shine bright, but it is a magical space where learning flourishes and students thrive. Positive classroom behaviors are like the fairy dust that brings a classroom to life.

Much like many quotes suggest, they create an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and encouraged to be their best selves. It’s a place where teachers can step back and watch their students engage, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning. Positive behaviors in the classroom also lead to better academic outcomes, improved social-emotional skills, and a more positive school culture. So, with the below-mentioned list let’s sprinkle a little bit of positivity into our day-to-day interactions and create a classroom that sparkles with magic and wonder!

Importance of positive classroom behaviors

A positive classroom environment is like a greenhouse for learning, providing the perfect conditions for students to grow and thrive. Positive behaviors, like respect, cooperation, and responsibility, are like the sunlight, water, and nutrients that nourish and sustain the growth of knowledge and skills. In a classroom with positive behaviors, students feel free to ask questions, participate in discussions, and share ideas, creating a learning environment where learning is an active and engaging process. The following are the various advantages of encouraging positive classroom behaviors:

Encourages active learning: Positive classroom behaviors encourage active learning by fostering an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, and sharing ideas.

Improves academic performance: When students are actively engaged in the learning process, they are more likely to perform better academically. Positive classroom behaviors promote academic success by creating an environment that is conducive to learning.

Enhances social skills: Positive classroom behaviors teach students valuable social skills, such as active listening, cooperation, respect, and empathy. These skills are not only important for academic success but also success in life. Furthermore, kids can also indulge in some social skills activities, to enhance the classroom learning environment.

Reduces classroom disruptions: Positive classroom behaviors help to reduce disruptions in the classroom by promoting good behavior and discouraging disruptive behavior. This creates a more productive learning environment for everyone.

Builds positive relationships: Positive classroom behaviors help to build positive relationships between students and teachers. This fosters a sense of community and support, which can improve overall morale and create a more enjoyable learning experience for everyone.

Develops positive attitudes towards learning: When students feel safe, engaged, and supported in the classroom, they are more likely to develop a positive attitude towards learning. This can lead to greater enthusiasm for learning, improved motivation, and higher academic achievement.

Strategies for encouraging positive behaviors

Creating a positive environment involves creating a space that fosters positivity, safety, and a sense of belonging. Here are some ways to create a positive environment:

Physical Environment: The physical environment plays a significant role in encouraging positive behaviors. A clean, well-maintained, and well-organized space can create a positive atmosphere that encourages positive behaviors.

Positive Social Interaction: Encourage positive social interactions by creating opportunities for individuals to connect with one another. This can be done through team-building activities, group discussions, and social events.

Supportive Relationships: Foster supportive relationships among individuals in the environment. Encourage people to be supportive of one another, listen actively, and be empathetic.

Clear Rules and Expectations: Establish clear rules and expectations that individuals must follow. Ensure that these rules and expectations are communicated clearly and consistently.

Positive Language: Use positive language when communicating with others. This includes using positive affirmations, encouragement, and constructive feedback.

Celebrate Successes: Celebrate and acknowledge successes and achievements, no matter how small they may be. This reinforces positive behaviors and encourages individuals to continue engaging in them.

By implementing these strategies, individuals in the environment will feel supported and motivated to engage in positive behaviors, ultimately creating a more positive and productive atmosphere.

Conclusion

As we come to the end of our journey into the world of positive classroom behaviors, let’s take a moment to reflect on the possibilities that lie ahead. With a little bit of imagination and a lot of positivity, we can transform our classrooms into spaces that are full of wonder, excitement, and possibility. Teachers can sprinkle the fairy dust of positivity every day and help in creating a learning environment that inspires our students to reach for the stars. Remember, the magic of positive classroom behaviors isn’t just for the classroom – it can also inspire us to be kinder, more compassionate, and more understanding in all aspects of our lives. So, let’s spread the magic far and wide and make the world a brighter, more positive place, one classroom at a time!

Children are full of emotions. Happiness, sadness, anger, excitement, and other emotions directly impact a child’s behavior. Unlike adults, who learn to regulate their emotions and behavior depending on their surroundings, children are innocent and yet to learn how to manage their behavior in different situations. This can often lead them to present unacceptable behaviors in various settings.

As it is the job of parents and teachers to teach and encourage good behavior and discourage the wrong ones, it is essential to choose the appropriate means to do so. Apart from using tools like behavior charts for preschool or putting up a positive classroom behavior list for students, technology can also be used to make our lives easier. Who knew one day there will be a host of applications to help us monitor behavior in children as well?

How can behavior-tracking apps help parents and teachers?

Behaviors are complex and vary from one child to another. It is difficult to predict how a child will behave on any particular day. So, managing inappropriate behavior can get a little tricky, especially for parents with more than one kid and also for teachers who work with several kids at a time.

Behavior-tracking apps prove to be excellent tools for parents and teachers alike. They make monitoring and tracking behavior an uncomplicated affair and assist in timely intervention.

As remembering past behavior is not easy, especially when you’re dealing with multiple kids, behavior tracking apps provide you a platform to keep a record of good and unpleasant behaviors and note the strategy that worked best for a particular child.

What to look out for while tracking behavior?

Selecting an appropriate app for behavior management is crucial. As there are numerous apps online, you must select a tool that meets your requirements. Think about the features you need. Do you need an app that –

Serves only for behavior management or if you need additional features

Has simple features like tracking day-to-day behaviors and noting down rewards

You can use it as a part of ABA therapy

Provides a comprehensive analysis of a child’s behavior

Supports teachers in school or parents at home

Focuses on inappropriate behavior prevention

Depending on how much you’re going to use this resource and the kind of flexibility and features you’re looking for, you can make your choice.

Another factor for you to consider is the cost of using the app. Some behavior management apps are paid and cost you a few dollars, while some are free. If you’re new to trying an app for behavior monitoring, it is best to start with a free version to see if you like it at all. Later, you may switch to a paid app if it works for you.

Free behavior-tracking apps to try

1. iRewardChart

A nice tool with a simple and interactive interface to keep track of kids’ behaviors and chores. The app is similar to a traditional reward chart and is easy to use. The customizable tool gives you the option to select different stickers or badges as stars depending on the child’s liking to keep them motivated.

iRewardChart appreciates kids by playing happy sounds when they earn a star and a piece of sad music when a star is lost. You can use the app on Android and iOS devices and even sync it across devices. Though the app is free to use, it can be upgraded through in-app purchases.

App link: Playstore | Appstore

2. Thumsters

Thumsters can also help in keeping a check on a child’s behavior. The app has a simple design that allows you to set goals and rewards for appropriate behavior. Kids would love to receive a thumbs up each time they display apt behaviors that are in tune with your family values. The app encourages children to display respectful behaviors by giving a means for positive reinforcement to parents and teachers.

Parents can add pictures of their kids for an enhanced personalized experience. The app is available for Android and iOS devices and is free to use. However, you can upgrade to a premium level which includes custom reasons, family sharing, and detailed reports.

To analyze behavior in a particular period, you can check the calendar to see if your approach is working or not. Child Reward is available on the Google Play Store for Android devices.

The main goal of this behavior-tracking app is to bring about a positive change in a child’s behavior. It is based on a behavior modification program devised by a Ph.D. in child behavior psychology. Parents can add as many kids as they would like to the app and enter expected positive behaviors and rewards. There is also a space to note negative behaviors displayed by the kids.

Give positive points for all good behaviors and minus points for undesired behaviors. Kids can redeem accumulated points and win rewards. Or, they could transfer points to the bank to later redeem rewards of greater value. In addition, the app also has the provision to add other caregivers to the app for all-round behavior monitoring of the child.

It simplifies routine tasks and allows teachers to focus more on teaching. A few taps on your iPad or iPhone are all you need to take note of student behavior in class.

You can also use this app to record your students’ attendance and even progress reports. Although the app is free to download, you can enjoy additional features if you’re willing to pay for premium features. Teacherkit can be used on MS Windows, iOS, and Android devices and is suitable for K12 teachers.

The Points app is a great way to track kids’ behavior, whether at home or school. Parents and teachers can use this simple yet modern app to promote positive behavior and task completion. This app is also based on the point system, wherein kids receive points for displaying good behaviors and lose points if they don’t.

Parents can add gifts or privileges for the kids and points in the app no matter where they are. Kids can even see scores of other children, like their siblings or peers, which creates healthy competition and motivates each one of them to do better. The app allows multiple logins, so parents, teachers, and kids have separate logins to access the app and make their entries.

Worldwide, parents always try their best to discipline their children and ensure they are following good behavior. This helps the children learn what behavior they should adopt and what to suppress. While all parents have different ideologies and different modes of conduct when it comes to dealing with their child, as every child has a different set of needs in addition to the unique system of belief that the parents themselves have, one thing that we find to be the most common in all kinds of scenarios is implementing a system of reward and punishment for the type of behavior they expect their child to show.

The process of reward and punishment helps facilitate desired and good behavior such that the children understand what is expected of them and also ensure they know what behavior will lead to punishment. A system of reward for good behavior is one of the most accepted forms of disciplinary methods that parents use. It is also proven to be one of the most effective forms of teaching that parents can give their children.

In this post, we intend to show you how to understand if your child is well-behaved. Further, this post will also help you understand the various kinds of rewards that you can offer your child for their good behavior at home. Finally, we will highlight why such rewards are helpful in parenting.

What should you consider as good behavior?

The concept of good behavior is a very vast topic, and when you read or research about it, keep in mind that every household is different in terms of its values, ideas, and mindset. Thus, what you might find to be good behavior shown by your child, might be offensive and considered bad behavior by someone else. Therefore, the entire topic is based on individual perspectives. However, we have managed to gather a few examples of good behaviors most commonly accepted and found all around the world. Some of these are:

Greeting everyone who comes to your home is one of the primary examples of good behavior or manner your child might display. Greeting them with a smile on their face and then greeting them when they are leaving is important as it indicates good hospitality from you. As a parent, you need to teach your children to greet everyone. This forms a crucial part of developing social skills.

If you have taught your child to say ‘please,’ ‘thank you,’ and other pleasantries while dealing with people (of their age, elders, or younger irrespectively), you have undoubtedly done an excellent job and instilled good behavior habits in them. Being polite is one of the most important characteristics of a well-behaved child.

If you have taught your child to knock on any door before they enter, they are well-behaved and portray good behavior.

Other good behaviors that you need to look out for are:

How they speak with others

Whether they are cleaning up or managing their toys after they are done playing with them, whether they are trying to help you with your household work and offering you help to the best of their abilities, Such activities and gestures reflect good behavior in little kids.

If they are eating nicely and sitting at the dinner table properly

Whether they are displaying politeness instead of anger or throwing tantrums, etc.

These are some of the most common examples of good behavior that we could find. But as a parent, you need to understand these good behaviors and manners will only develop if you teach your child thoroughly and act as a good example.

Examples of rewards for good behavior at home

As a parent, it is important to know what kind of rewards you need to give your children when they show good behavior. However, it would help if you keep in mind that these are some of the most common ideas for rewards and that every household is different in various ways. So, you need to find what works best for your child. That being said, some examples of rewards for good behavior at home are as follow:

1. Praising

The most common yet, effective form of reward you can give to your child is simply praising them for a task well done or for their efforts. Suppose your child is displaying good behavior and manners, like greeting everyone, saying please and thank you to others, or completing their homework, for example. In that case, simply acknowledging their efforts and achievements by praising and giving feedback goes a long way. Your child will feel loved and understand that you care for them. Even if your child has failed to do a task but has tried his best, praising the efforts will motivate them to keep up the good behavior.

2. Treat time

Similar to the first one, this one is also very common across the world. When you see your child behaving in a manner you appreciate, treat them with their favorite candy or hot drink, like hot chocolate or something. This will help the child develop good manners faster as they have something to look forward to. For example, if they complete their homework within the assigned time, they get a treat that they enjoy. Such a reward will encourage them to work more on completing their task or some other work and make themselves happy as well in the process. However, you also need to ensure that your child does not get too many candies or sweets as it is bad for their health. So ensure that you have set a limit to how much they will get, like twice or thrice a week.

3. Stay up longer than usual

It is common for children to be given bedtime by their parents. If the child displays a good behavior, then as a parent, you can reward them by letting them stay up late for a couple of extra minutes. These additional minutes will be treasured by your child for a task well done and will motivate them to keep on showing good behavior. However, do not let this become a habit, or their sleep schedule will be disturbed.

4. Allow choosing dinner

Further, as a parent, you can reward your children for their good behavior by letting them choose what to have for dinner. Not just for themselves but the entire family. What this will do is make them feel loved and appreciated. They will see that due to their efforts to be a good child, their opinions are taken into consideration by adults. This will motivate them to keep portraying good manners to win your approval.

5. Engage in fun activities

Simple and fun activities are also an excellent method of rewarding your child. When your child does something right, praise them and give them a hi-5. Actions such as these make the child very happy as they can engage in fun activities with the parent. In addition, you can also lay small games such as hide and seek or play with them on a custom-built obstacle course made with pillows and carpet. This will make your child motivated to keep behaving well and also keep them physically active.

6. Allow longer screen time

Similar to giving them an extension when it comes to their bedtime, as a parent you can also provide them with an extension of screen time. Maybe 15-20 minutes of extra time will do the trick, as the child will be beyond happy watching their favorite shows and cherishing that extra screen time that they would not have gotten if they did not behave well.

7. Sleepover party

Finally, as a big reward, you can allow your child to have a sleepover with their best friend or a close friend. Letting them sleep over for a night would mean that they would have increased screen time, candies, and even a late bedtime. This means that they will be getting a lot of rewards at the same time. This should only be used as a reward when your child is extra well-behaved. For example, if they fold their clothes for the entire month, clean their toys for the whole month, or score excellent grades on their final exams.

Why is rewarding beneficial?

As mentioned above, rewarding your child as a parent will encourage them to be well-mannered as well as promote a wide range of good behaviors.

In addition, the child will also be motivated and happy for the recognition you give them for their hard work and stay motivated to work harder to win your approval. This will create a healthy parent-child relationship which will be very positive in the long run.

Finally, this will also shape their personality into a loving and caring manner, turning them into responsible adults.

Conclusion

To conclude, we can say that as a parent, it is essential for you to facilitate good behavior by implementing a system of rewards. This will encourage your child as they feel you notice them more and love them too. A system of rewards is one of the primary building blocks of your child’s personality and will help towards making them responsible adults.
